Here is the big hub cap flower ready for some color! Reds and purples, I think, with some touches of yellow-orange and yellow-green in the center!

This is the first phase of my hub cap piece for the Landfill Art Project. Some funky center shapes with curly wire in center. Wire will eventually have some beads. After getting all this paper mache'd, there will be another layer of larger petals around the outer edges. Should be quite the flower when done!

Close up of the felting.

Good news! Long story short, I got hooked up with an organization called the Land Fill Art Project, all about reusing, reclaiming stuff that would otherwise go into the global scrap heap. Over 1,000 artists from around the WORLD have turned a hubcap into a piece of artwork. (See where this is going....?) I contacted the person in charge and I am doing up one of my fun, sculptural hubcaps and sending it in!
Google "Land Fill Art Project" and you can get to a page where you can view all the hubcaps that have been done so far!!! Absolutely amazing!

This one is painted with added felt starfish, dots and waves.

A recent piece done along with my students at school. "Animal Head Hubcaps"  This is done with paper mache and embellished with paint, felt and cardboard flowers.

Sponge painted and decorated around the edge with fake leaves plucked off and old garland!

Another "Animal Head Hubcap"

My first sculptural hubcap done about 8 years ago! The ends are wire with beads. Very funky!
